Freedom Makeup London Brow Pomade Review

Or, as I like to call it, The Bromade! Like, bro, do my brows! Lame? Probably. Do I care? No.

I added this bromade, in the shade Ash Brown, to my cart late last year for my birthday. I wanted something quick and easy to use to do my eyebrows, with a colour that matched them exactly. I had the Milani Easybrow Pencil, and the colour was a bit too red, whereas my brows are more grey aka cool-toned.

Just before I made my order on TAM Beauty, Makeup Revolution released their own line of brow pomades. However, there were barely any reviews or swatches on them, so I couldn't choose a colour. I went for Freedom, because it was somewhat cheaper, and I could find the swatches easily and figure out which one was my colour. I don't know if the ingredients are exactly the same because I couldn't find them listed under the Makeup Revolution ones.

The Mission to Improve My Skin #6

Welcome to this month's edition of The Mission to Improve My Skin. I know, I know, another one, but guys, looking for the perfect routine takes a lot of trial and error. I still haven't perfected it, but I'm well on my way there, and I think I'm almost at the end! Since my previous Mission update I've actually found products that works better for my skin, and I'm going to touch on that during this edit. I really like documenting the changes that my skin goes through on a monthly basis, so that I can keep track of them. I tried keeping a skincare diary but it lost my interest quickly, and I'd forget to write my routine in it for several days at a time.

At least this way, not only am I on track, but I am also inviting others to share their recommendations and/or suggestions. The beauty blogging community, for the most part, are super supportive, and someone always comes up with a great suggestion that I'm willing to try out.

My On-The-Go Makeup Bag Edit #2

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post on what was in my on-the-go makeup bag, and I thought it would be a great idea to turn it into a semi-regular series. Work is going great, it's so much better than my previous jobs, and I really like my coworkers. They all have interesting personalities, and some of them are just so nice and easy to work with. One of them, the manager, is straight to the point and direct, which I really appreciate because it makes it easier to establish trust in the workplace.

I work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and thus I worked on Valentine's Day. I had to bake a Red Velvet cake in the shape of a heart, topped with some marshmallow frosting. It was so weird baking for V-Day when I don't even participate in it at all - I find the holiday to be over-the-top and sappy. Sean and I are perfectly content with just pretending it doesn't exist, because romance should be every day, not just one day out of a year. It's just the way we are, and we don't even put a lot of effort into our anniversaries. It's not like we have the financial security to splurge on a gift for the significant other every few months so we make Christmases and birthdays super special.

My Feelings on Irresponsible Pet Ownership

This post comes about after going through a week of stress, disappointment and sadness over the welfare of pets. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a lot of pet owners are responsible, do things by the book and give their pets the care that they need. However, I'm seeing an increase of owners that are less than stellar, and fail to meet even the basic needs that the animal requires. Not only that, I am also seeing a lot of pets abandoned or disposed of and it breaks my heart to think about them. I hate, hate, seeing pets stranded at pounds because their owners no longer consider them worthy of a part in their lives. My heart shatters into a million pieces when I think about how scared, lonely or sad they are, as they're kept in a cage wondering what's happening.

This post comes about after I took in two kittens for the weekend and gave them all the love and affection that they deserve. I tried so hard and did everything I could think to do, to find them a new home without having to go through the pound as required of me by the council. We called local vets, RSPCA and the local council to see if there were any other options, because we had a potential home for them with a friend of ours. This friend showed the integrity we were looking for, to give them the life that they needed. They were willing to put in the time and effort to ensure that they were desexed, chipped, registered and vaccinated as soon as possible. Unfortunately, our hands were tied, and we had to surrender them to the local pound on Wednesday.

The Most Perfect Palette for Summer

I'm so excited to be writing this because it's been a while since I did a review on a palette. My last review was on the Pink Fizz palette from I Heart Makeup and that was quite a while ago. I made a resolution at the start of this year to do more makeup reviews because I've got so much to go through. I'm aiming for at least one every two weeks, but if I am determined enough, I hope to have one up every week.Today, I decided to go with this Chi Chi Glamorous Sun Kissed Eyeshadow Palette that my brother and sister-in-law gave to me for Christmas.

Aside from their perfumes, I never had the chance to try Chi Chi Cosmetics before, so I was pretty excited to receive this. The shades are the kind that I love to use on my eyes, and the kicker is the gorgeous orange that just looks so amazing when swatched. I love using this shade for a fiery look, especially paired with that pale gold shade fifth from the right.

Beauty Products That I Rarely Collect & Why

You know how makeup addicts like to hoard a lot of makeup, regardless of whether they wear them often enough to justify such a large collection? I'm like that, though I like to hope that I am not as obsessive as some of the most die-hard collectors. I'm a collector, I collect things and I don't think that habit is going to change for as long as I live. I have an obsessive personality, and I'm just lucky that doesn't apply to things that may harm my body or my lifestyle, such as alcohol, cigarettes or gambling.

I don't wear makeup often enough to justify the purchase of more products, but over the past two months, I've really limited my spending habits to just the necessities. After a year of buying whatever catches my fancy, I've become more selective of what I want to keep in my kit. I did a makeup detox at the end of last year to get rid of the stuff I never wore or didn't perform as well as they used to, and my collection is neater now. It's also made me realise what finishes and colours I like best, and what brands or types work better for me than others.

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara Review

I cannot remember the last time I did a full makeup review on a single product, instead of a summary of a few products in one post, well, aside from the brushes I did last week. I think it's been at least a month, and I've promised myself that I'll do a review each week or, at the very least, every fortnight. Especially because I've got a shit tonne of products to go through and hopefully this will convince me to use them more often.

Oh, and having a new job means I get to wear makeup at least twice a week, so that's something!

Today's review is going to be on the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara. That's a serious mouthful! I'm not too sure why brands think it's a great idea to have such long names for their products. I like it simple and clean, not wordy. Anyways, it's not a very good reason to frown upon a product for, so I'll just move along and get down to the nitty gritty.

My Summer Beauty Favourites

Previously I said I was not going to do monthly beauty favourites because I was having a hard time rotating my products and finding something to obsess about. The thing is, with me, is that I have a bunch of favourites, and rarely venture out of that spectrum to use something else in my collection. Unless there's an occasion that compels me to really step it up a notch, that is. My routine does change, somewhat, according to the season, and that is why we've come to this post.

January has come with weather so sporadic you're likely to get whiplash if you think on it too long. One day it's warm, but not unbearable, the next day you can fry an egg on the pavement, and then the day after that you've got to pile on the knits and cover every inch of skin. Summer is quite possibly the most unpredictable season in Melbourne, but when it gets hot, it gets hot. I despise hot weather and do not do well when I have to leave the house in the middle of the heat.

"Out of the frying pan and into the fire," is how I would describe the summers here in Australia. Obviously, other states have it worse, which is precisely the reason why you won't find me visiting the Big Banana between October and March. Sorry, Aunt Cheryl, the trip will have to wait.

What's In My On-The-Go Makeup Bag?

I started my new job last Tuesday, and I spent a couple of days leading up to it trying to decide how I would do my makeup. See, I had to wake up at 5:30 am in the morning, and leave the house a little less than an hour later to make it to the train station in time. I didn't particularly want to wake up any earlier to do my makeup, because I was going to sleep at 9:30 on Monday night.

I decided that I would prepare two makeup bags, one for if I had time in the mornings to put my face on, and the other containing essentials to shove into my bag if I ran out of time.

This is that bag.

Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Dupes vs BH Cosmetics BH Chic Brush Set

This has been a long time in the making, but I wanted to properly acquaintance myself with both sets before reviewing them. Cat sent me the BH Cosmetics BH Chic 14pc brush set in her last care package at my request. I liked that it came with a matching case that looked both sturdy and spacious, which is perfect for travelling. When I saw that I could get dupes of the Zoeva Rose Golden brushes on eBay that was both cheap and vegan, I went for it. I made the decision to compare the two sets as soon as I added the Zoeva dupes to my cart.

I played with them for about two months before I made my verdict, and here it is!
