Wishing You All A Very Merry Christmas

Hark, she speaks! I'm fully aware that I've been absent over the past week, not just on my blog but also on all of my social media accounts save for a few chats on Twitter and likes on Instagram. Christmas makes me one very busy chickadee, and that was why I've been AWOL from blogging. Such is the reason why I couldn't get all of my Blogmas posts up in the last two weeks.

Seriously, one should not set themselves the task of writing Blogmas posts at the last minute of every day and not expect to be sidetracked by Christmas baking, shopping, visiting and all of the other things that happen without a moment's notice, including a funeral last Friday. I decided to do a bunch of baking in preparation for Christmas so that some of the treats could be given in a hamper to my grandparents and to Sean's mum, and then the rest for dessert after Christmas dinner.

If I were to do Blogmas again, which I doubt, but if I did, I would begin planning it in October, and finish the posts by the end of November. I only wrote half the posts, and even though I had plans for several more, I kept changing my mind and coming up with something else instead, throwing things out of whack. Finally, it got to the point where I barely had the time to myself to sit down and write, or read or anything and my laptop was barely touched except for when I needed to respond to emails, find recipes and look for certain products in certain stores.

The crostoli took the better part of an evening and I didn't finish making it until 11:30 at night, and I was so exhausted. I didn't start making them until late afternoon because my sister had stayed the night before and didn't go home until 4 pm. I did get to use my brand new pasta machine for the first time, so that's something.

I spent all day Saturday baking and cooking, that Sean and I didn't get to sit down and eat dinner until 9 pm. On Sunday, we went to Sean's mum's for lunch and then headed to mum's for dinner. It was a very warm day so I kept getting bitten by fleas. I know all too well how Sirius Black feels when he's in dog form.

I got a few gifts for Christmas, some of which I was pleasantly surprised about. I'm looking forward to trying some of them out. My brother, sister and I put money together for a pizzelle maker for mum, and she was so surprised. It was definitely unexpected for her, and I love the fact that we got her something special this year that she really wanted for ages. I'm looking forward to all the pizzelle biscuits for the next twenty or thirty something years.

Over the past week, I've been thinking about compiling my own recipe book with all of the recipes that I love from both of my Nonnas, mum's and my own recipes. I just need to find a nice book that I'll enjoy writing my recipes down in. I found a notebook the other day that had sushi on the cover, but I can't, for the life of me, remember where I saw it!

I've got a lot of time to myself from now on up until I start my new job at the very end of January. It hasn't quite hit me yet that I finally have a job, but I'm also looking for a new one. In the meantime, I'm trying to get super organised with this blog. I bought myself a new notebook from Kmart for the blog, and it's super cute. You guys will get to see a sneak peak of it in the coming weeks. I've also been spending a couple of hours improving my calligraphy so that I can make the inside of my planners and notebook pretty.

I wish you all had a wonderful Christmas, and that you guys got everything that you wanted. Did you have a good Christmas? What were some of your favourite gifts?
