Blogmas Day #16: A Christmas Tag

I saw this tag over on Rhaea's blog, which she posted on the second day of Blogmas. I'd been wanting to do it for a while but I kept forgetting to complete it. I saw it again the other day after being stuck with a blogger's block and went 'ah-ha!'. I have to admit that some of my answers are a bit unsatisfactory, as December as a whole did not go well at all last year. As a result, I can barely remember much about it except for the good bits and the really horrible bits.

How did you spend Christmas Day last year?
Because I've somehow blocked a lot of last December from memory, I can barely remember what I did for the holiday. I recall us going out to lunch with Sean's mum and sister on Christmas day, and then seeing mum and my grandmothers at some point. We were going through some conflict so it wasn't exactly a fun time of the year for me.

How are you spending Christmas Day this year?
Things are going better between me and my family, and I'm actually looking forward to Christmas this year. I've established a good relationship with my sister-in-law, and I can't wait to see my nephew again. For lunch, we're having dinner with Sean's family, and then in the evening, we're going to dinner at Mum's house.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
No, I live in Australia where the entire country barely gets a lick of snow throughout the year except for the mountains and some parts of Tasmania. The only time we ever got close to a white Christmas was in 2011, when there were storms that resulted in hailstones the size of golf balls, flash flooding and felled trees. It was rather awful, though stuffing some hailstones down my dress did help cool me down, and my uncle and I had taken to chucking them at each others' heads.

Do you have a fake or a real Christmas tree?
I have a fake one because it's a lot easier to maintain, and it's cheaper in the long run. My tree looks quite realistic for what it is as it was an investment that I made a few years ago. It has gradient pine needles and it looks quite full when fluffed correctly.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
A pro! I love wrapping presents and make an activity out of it. I like paying attention to detail, and ensuring that each fold is precise, sharp and neat, and then I make sure my bows are perfectly tied and teased to ensure maximum volume.

Favourite Christmas scent?
I'm barely able to smell much at all, but the one thing that I really do like smelling are peppermint candy canes. Mint is one of the very few scents that I can recognise, and it's one of my favourite flavours to indulge in too.

How did you find out the truth about Santa?
To be honest, I cannot remember, but I'm fairly sure that it was my brother that spoiled it for me. I can't remember when or how it happened, though.

Post a picture of your favourite or most outrageous Christmas jumper.
Unfortunately, Australia does not have weather cold enough for Christmas jumper, as Christmas falls during the summer. However, I do have a festive pair of PJ bottoms that's perfect for the season and really makes Christmas fun.

If you could be in any Christmas movie, what would it be?
Hum, ho, I would probably choose Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I know it's not traditionally a Christmas movie, but it has such a feel-good thing going on about it, and it really has the most beautiful Christmas scenes than a lot of movies that I've seen. I'd be able to learn magic, steal Harry's cloak and go visit Hagrid and Fang.

And maybe alter Draco's future by encouraging him to change his perspective sooner so that he falls in love with Hermione and this becomes canon.

What is your favourite thing about the run-up to Christmas?
This is a really hard question and I really had to stop and think about what excited me the most in the lead-up to Christmas. I think it's seeing people I don't get to see very often, such as family members that live further away or lead such busy lifestyles. I also like seeing the looks on my friends and family's faces when they open the presents I give them.

I hope to see some of you guys completing this tag. If you do decide to complete it, please send me a link!
