The Mission to Improve My Skin #4

This update is ridiculously late, but I've had to prioritise other things, and even now, I'm still quite busy. I've pretty much finished my putz house but I need to add some trees and put glitter on the base. other than that, I've had a pretty full week, and there was no end to it. I had my friend Livi's Anything But Clothes 18th birthday party on Saturday night, and I went as a Greek philosopher, donning a couple of sheets and an olive wreath on my head. Today, aside from doing a (long-ass) grocery run, I had to wash clothes, plant more tomatoes, do some tidying up, and write lists. I'm now sitting in the lounge room with all the windows open in hopes that there will be a cool breeze blowing through the house. It was too bloody hot today, mate!

Anyhow, I had planned on writing a skincare empties post before this one, but because this was meant to go up last Friday it ended up being a cross-over, so not only do you get the newest edition to the Mission, you also get to find out what I've used up lately. I aim to have the posts for the rest of this month uploaded to schedule, but as always, I can't promise anything.

Tuesday 18 October
I've barely touched my face in fear of a nasty visitor appearing before or on the day of my cousin's wedding. I haven't seen any new pimples over the past two days, and even though I missed out on doing my skincare on Sunday night and Monday morning, my skin hasn't gotten worse following the lack of TLC, which is saying so much! Not much has improved in the way of my diet, except I've reduced the amount of sugar in my tea (slightly) and I'm trying to eat more protein, fresh fruits and veggies, and fewer carbs, mainly because I would like to slim down a bit, as off topic, I don't fit into some of my nicer dresses so I had to buy a new one for the wedding this weekend.

Friday 21 October
Aside from an under-the-skin lurker on my cheek that's been lurking for a few days, my skin has been relatively good to me, especially with Aunt Irma coming to town in the coming days. I'm actually surprised that my skin hasn't broken out yet, but knowing my luck there will be a zit the size of a mountain on my chin tomorrow. I've avoided micellar water, masks, acne treatments and rose hip seed oil, just so that my skin doesn't dry out or break out. However, the lack of a mask means some of my blackheads have reared their ugly heads.

Monday 24 October
My skin was rather spectacular last weekend without any dry flaky or scabby areas, and the foundation lasted all day following Kevin James Bennet's guideline for skin prep prior to applying foundation on oily skin. Yesterday, though, I had the old-school gas heater on in the living room and fell asleep on the couch, so my skin ended up drying out a bit, shame on me. I failed to do my skincare routine this morning because I had to rush to the audiologist to get to my appointment on time, and then I forgot to do it when I got returned home, because I went back to sleep. I've been pretty sleepy since the wedding for no particular reason.

Friday 28 October
I've spent the past week sticking to my usual routine and not wearing any makeup, and I've noticed that since wearing makeup for two days over the weekend, using my Makeup Revolution Oil Control Setting Spray to set the makeup, my skin was severely dehydrated. And I found out that the spray contains a decent bit of alcohol and acids, hence why my skin got so damaged. This was so evident when I wore some foundation for the Wet n Wild primer swatches and it settled into fine cracks in my skin and looked really dry and scaly - gross.

Wednesday 16 November
I've had a fairly uneventful couple of weeks since my last entry, but I ran out of a few products, such as my Natio Cleansing Milk, my Sukin toner, my Formula 10.0.6 moisturiser and my serum. I've stocked up on the serum and the toner, but I decided to try the Sukin Sensitive Skin Cleansing Lotion, and I picked up SugarBaby's Creme De La Creme Daily Moisture Cream to see how it works. The SugarBaby moisturiser is made with coconut water, sodium hyaluronate, good for retaining moisture, and grapeseed oil, which should help with oil production. Over the past few days, I've noticed the emergence of a few pimples, randomly scattered around my face. My assumption is that it's either the cleansing lotion, the moisturiser or the fact that I've been sleeping on a cushion from the living room instead of my usual pillow, because I would have a headache when I woke up every day.

Monday 21 November
I've yet to properly begin the process of elimination when it comes to this latest outbreak of pimples, but it's starting to look like the cushion is the culprit, as I've slept over at Mum's house a couple of times this week and nothing new has cropped up, not even over night. I really need to get around to buying myself a new pillow. I put a pillow case over the cushion for the time being, and since then, nothing new in particular.

This month my skin has been fairly hydrated and kind to me with minimal pimply occurrences, save for this past week, though I have yet to step up my water consumption as I feel it will make all the difference in how my skin feels and looks. My complexion has really cleared up, as my skin tone is more even now and my skin looks more radiant than ever before. I've ordered the Freedom Makeup Radiance Tonic, which looks like it's a dupe of the Pixi Glow Tonic. It contains glycolic acid which would help make my skin smoother and slough away dead skin cells. I just picked up the Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum today while they were 20% off at Priceline, because I wanted to prevent any more wrinkles around my eyes.

I really like the SugarBaby Vita+Skin Super Serum and am going to keep on using it. Why switch it up when something works for you? I wasn't overly fond of the micellar water, as every time I use it, it ends up making my face tingly after use, with red patches where there is stinging. However, I've got a sneaking suspicion that it happens with all micellar waters, not just this one. I've got Sukin's Micellar Water, so I'm going to try that one out first before I decide whether it's a sensitivity, or with certain brands. I wasn't crazy about the Formula 10.0.6 moisturiser, because it didn't do much for my skin, and it felt like it actually let my skin go greasy sooner rather than later. It also looks like it darkens my pores by the end of the day, which makes me look ruddy.

What are your must-haves when it comes to flawless skin? I feel like I'm on the way there but I still need a extra punch of TLC.
