The Versatile Blogger Award

First of all, I want to thank Romina, of Romina's Little Corner, so much for this nomination. I had seen this award make the rounds last month or so and never thought I'd get it, especially because I didn't think I was out there as a blogger. I haven't had much of a chance to really snoop through and read every blog post on Romina's blog, but I already love it from what I've seen so far. I highly recommend that you guys go and visit it.

Romina, once again, thank you so much!

Much like the Liebster Award, this is given by bloggers to bloggers and is a way for us guys in the community to help each other get our blogs out there, as well as discover new blogs to read. I think it's a fantastic way to support each other.

From what I can tell, there are a few rules for this award, and here goes:
  • Thank the person who nominated you (tick!)
  • Include a link to their blog (done!)
  • Reveal seven facts about yourself
  • Nominate 10-15 blogs/bloggers that you've recently discovered or follow regularly
Now that I've ticked off two of the rules, I'm going to move onto the seven facts about myself. This is a little hard because I feel like you guys know so much about me already, simply because I never shut up and just rattle on and on. I'm digging deep here, guys!

Fact 1:
I met Sean at a New Year's Eve party (wow, cliché!) that my brother and his girlfriend hosted way back when. We spent the entire evening being antisocial, listening to music through his iPod and talking about movies and stuff. It wasn't long till we started dating (about a week, to be exact) and our first date was at the Melbourne Zoo. I was in high school at the time, and he was my first-ever and only boyfriend. We got engaged a few years ago and have yet to even start planning the wedding.

Fact 2:
I'm stuck already. Oh, I'm a massive Tolkien-phile. I know, you guys know me as the one that LOVES Harry Potter, but I'm almost as crazy about Tolkien's books as I am about the Harry Potter books. I love the incredible amount of attention to detail that Tolkien put into his stories and how he created a background for almost every character, and I still discover brand new information that I never knew before. I have in total, not including multiples of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, 13 books of his. I'm still searching for a few more books to fill in holes in my collection.

Fact 3:
I've been on hormone replacement therapy ever since I was about 16-17 years old. The reason for this is because my body didn't produce the hormones for me to hit puberty, whether due to an inactive/slow pituitary nerve, my father's own issues with his anatomy, or just because my body doesn't like me. I was diagnosed with Kallmann's Syndrome because the two main symptoms are the lack of hormones and virtually no sense of smell. The sense of smell thing runs in the females on my mum's side of the family, so I really doubt they're related. I'm not a doctor, so I can't run my own diagnosis.

Fact 4:
I love reading and writing fanfiction. I have a particular fondness for Bagginshield aka Thorin/Bilbo fics (again with the Tolkien) though I do also like to read Hermione/Draco (Harry Potter), Sansa/the Hound and Brienne/Tormund (Game of Thrones). And yes, the males are all grumpy/bossy/pompous *cough Draco cough*, it's a guilty pleasure of mine to read how they go from being assholes/meanies to being a ray of sunshine. I'm in the middle of writing my Dramione fic, but I haven't updated in over a year. It's hard to update when I haven't got a proofreader to go over them. I've got a potential reader but they have to read all of my published chapters first.

Fact 5:
I really like food. Food always takes first priority over everything else that I do. If I have to choose between seeing people and having something to eat, you know what I'll pick. I'm fondly dubbed as the black hole by my partner because I can eat a lot and still not feel full. I love raw veggies and you're lucky if you even get half a home-cooked meal after I've gone through the capsicums, carrots and beans as I'm preparing them. It's such a chore trying to restrain myself from eating them all before they make it to the pot.

Fact 6:
I didn't start wearing makeup again until early last year, and since then my collection has grown so much. Back in my first year of high school, I used to collect the Essential Guide to Beauty magazine and each issue came with a couple of products, and I learned a lot about makeup. My favourite product was the shimmery khaki/olive green eyeliner pencil, and to this day, I have yet to find something that matches in colour, softness and lasting power. I miss it so much *sad face*. From my research, the closest shade is Shu Uemura's ME Khaki 09, but the brand isn't CF, so that's a no-go.

Fact 7:
I am terrible with faces. It will take me forever to remember someone's face, which is really embarrassing when meeting someone for the second time. It's so easy for me to remember names, but I suck at connecting names to faces unless I know the person well. I still have trouble with my cousins, I'll tell you that!

That's all for tonight! I've been at this post all day long because I keep procrastinating with the facts about me and getting distracted by Gilmore Girls. Speaking of Gilmore Girls, I'm now officially halfway through the series, and I gotta tell you, I'm still #TeamDean. I'm off to watch some more before I go to sleep.

Good night x

  1. Wow I found this really interesting, and it's nice to hear that someone else is a huge foodie as well. I always pick food over pretty much everything!

And enjoy Gilmore Girls! I'm so excited for the reboot :)
