It's Sally! A Blogger to Blogger Interview

Hi Thrifty Veg readers, I'm Sally from Diagon Sally. Stephanie and I thought it'd be fun to interview each other and answer some questions! For those of you who don't know me, I'm twenty years old (Almost twenty-one on the 7th Feb!) and I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I was actually born in the UK and am half Chinese and half British.

If you had to choose between mascara and lipstick, which would you pick, and why?
I’d choose Mascara! I actually don’t wear lipstick that much as I find a lot of them dry my lips out. Plus I always get self conscious that I have lipstick or something on my teeth. Mascara I find really helps make you look that bit more awake and alert.

Where do you store your makeup?
I have one of those IKEA vanity’s that I swear almost every blogger has! I store the make up I’d use more regularly in there. I also have a make up box which has quite a few mascaras and foundations that I haven’t yet opened but eventually will get to! Then my everyday make up goes in my little Victoria’s Secret cosmetic bag that I got a couple of years ago.

Tell us a little bit about your pets.
At the moment I have a big fluffy kitty called Luka who I love very much! He’s a Persian X and will be turning nine this year. A lot of my friend call me Sally the Cat because the mispronounced version of my last name sounds like cat and because I do love cats. I actually love all animals though and have had ten guinea pigs at one point in my life. One day I’d love to have a dog as well though I’m not sure what kind yet.

If you could only live on one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably Pad Thai. If I didn’t care about my health at all I’d probably say ice cream because I can eat that like there’s no tomorrow but I don’t think it’ll be very long until I found myself seriously ill. I love Pad Thai so much and I think it would actually be alright to eat everyday, especially if it’s homemade.

Do you prefer a DSLR or a regular digital camera? What do you use at the moment?
I prefer a DSLR, I don’t actually own a regular digital camera apart from my iPhone camera. Mostly I use my DSLR as I’m a photography enthusiast and have actually the art quite a bit. I think 90% of my blog photos are taken on DSLR but for Instagram 25% are taken on my iPhone.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? What is it?
Hmm.. I sing musicals, operas and love ballads in the shower full out! Like, I sing all the parts as if I were in some one man band. When it comes to operas, even though most of them are sung in Italian or German and I don’t speak either language, it doesn’t stop me. I just make up all the words!

Favourite scent?
The Miss Dior Cherie or Chloe perfume! The Miss Dior Cherie was actually my first proper perfume I ever owned and still my favourite. I love how long lasting it is, most perfumes feel like they last about twenty minutes on me. I love the smell of Chloe on other people but I’ve never actually owned it so I don’t know if it would work well with me.

What was the most practical gift you received for Christmas last year?
A ticket to visit my family in the UK! Actually I received it and visited them before Christmas because flights during the festive seasons are so freaking expensive. Travelling is one of the best gifts ever in my opinion, an entire experience with everlasting memories.

If someone offered you a one-way flight ticket to a country of your choice, where would you go and why?
Back to the UK. I was actually planning of moving back but student loans are so expensive the UK so I’m going to wait a few more years and see what actually happens. I just love being in the company of my family in such a beautiful country.

Who was your favourite teacher at Hogwarts, and who was your least favourite?
I think my favourite would be Professor McGonagall as she was fair, level headed, loyal and brave. Everything I look for in a person. Plus she didn’t have favourites and rewarded and punished her students fairly. My least favourite would be Umbridge. Ohmygosh, don’t get me started on her. I had to take breaks while reading Order of the Phoenix because I was fuming.

Favourite kind of chocolate?
Any kind of Lindt chocolate! It’s just so smooth and creamy, no other company gets it as right. I actually couldn’t eat chocolate for about six years as it would give me migraines but last year I tried some again and I seem to be okay. Very happy to be welcoming chocolate back into my life!

What is your favourite season? What do you love about it?
Winter, I actually don’t mind the cold just as long as it’s not -40C (Yes Canada I’m taking to you!) Plus I love my winter wardrobe better than my summer one! I love sitting by the fire all wrapped up and cozy having a nice roast dinner. Summer in Australia is just too hot and I don’t even have air conditioning.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
The ability to tell the future. I’m such a scardy cat and sometimes I wish I would know the outcome just so I could get something over and done with rather than to waste my time and effort.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
People that walk in the middle of the footpath/escalator. I’m quite a fast walker and when I’m off walking somewhere, I’m a woman on a mission. I’d just also like to mention that I don’t drive (yet) and this is probably for the better until I sort out my temper regarding this issue.

Favourite booze of choice?
Apple Cider though I’m not much of a drinker. That’s probably why I like apple cider though, it doesn’t really taste like alcohol and one minute you’re drinking a sparkly apple juice and the next minute your tipsy as hell. Dangerous stuff!

Is there anything you regret?
Yes and no. I’m such a perfectionist that whenever I don’t get the result I desire, I feel upset and regret even putting any effort into it. I know I shouldn’t regret things though because I’ve also learnt and gained a lot from these experiences. "Never regret anything because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.” That’s a quote I like to remind myself.
